The Representation Project

Using film and media as catalysts for cultural transformation, The Representation Project inspires individuals and communities to challenge and overcome limiting stereotypes so that everyone, regardless of gender, race, class, age, sexual orientation, ability, religion, or circumstance, can fulfill their human potential. Jennifer Siebel Newsom founded The Representation Project (a 501c3) in 2011 in response to the overwhelming public demand for ongoing education and social action in support of her first film, Miss Representation. Since then, The Representation Project has released Newsom’s second directorial film, The Mask You Live In, and become well known for creating popular campaigns such as #NotBuyingIt and #AskHerMore. HeForShe

HeForShe is a United Nations Women solidarity movement for gender equality. UN Women is the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women with the goal of accelerating the achievement of ‘Planet 50-50 by 2030’, UN Women’s vision for a gender equal world. HeForShe was launched on 20 September 2014, at the United Nations by former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson with an invitation to men and boys to build on the work of the women’s movement as equal partners, crafting and implementing a shared vision of gender equality that will benefit all of humanity. Achieving gender equality in our lifetimes requires an innovative, inclusive approach that both recognizes men and boys as partners for women’s rights, and acknowledges the ways in which they also benefit from this equality. With an ambitious goal of mobilizing 1 BILLION men, the HeForShe journey begins by making a commitment online at www.HeForShe.org and adding your voice to the movement.
